Title: The Workers Are Few.

(Matthew 9:35-38) Jesus went through all the villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “ The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field”.

Jesus looked at the crowd that was following Him and referred them as field ripped for harvest. There are many people in the world today ready to give their lives to Christ, but they do not know how to go about it, they need someone to direct them. Jesus commands us to pray that people will respond to this needs for workers. When ever we pray, God answers, here He wants us to pray this kind of prayer.

Be prepared for God to use you, to show others the way of the Lord. Jesus chose His disciples to follow Him, He did not force them or asked them to volunteer. He chose them to serve Him in a special way. Jesus has called us today to follow Him and to imitate His ways of sacrifice and service. He does not force us but He wants us to follow Him and serve with a willing heart.

We can choose to follow Him or not. He has called you today how are you responding? Jesus called people of all walks and life. He called fishermen, political activists, tax collectors. He called both common  people and uncommon leaders , rich and poor, educated and uneducated. Today many of us think that there are certain people who are qualified or fit to answer this call. God can use anyone no matter what their training or background may be.

When you feel unprepared or unqualified to do what you feel God is calling you to do, remember that He often uses ordinary people to do His extraordinary work. If He has called you remember that you have to answer this call for Him to prepare you. He knows how to prepare those He called. All the twelve disciples He called, non of them came up with any excuses. How many times have you prayed for God to bring the workers  into the harvest field, as He wants us to pray? Do you think He has not called you to come and work? How have you responded.?

Do you see the need to start praying as from today for God to bring workers into the harvest, and also make yourself available for this work.? Jesus is coming soon, many are still in the valley of decision. Many hungry souls out there but not enough workers to direct them. (John 10:32-33) Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my father in heaven.

Prayer: May the Lord help us to understand our duties as servants of God in Jesus name. May God help us not to ignore His calling in Jesus name.
