SPEND YOUR RESOURCES WISELY.

Read Luke 7:1-5

MEMORISE: Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you (Luke 6:38).

EXPOSITION

Solomon, in Ecclesiastes 11:1, encourages us to spread our bread on the waters, that after many days, it will come back to us. God gives His blessings to whoever He wills. Many Christians believe the money that unbelievers have is not from God. This is not true in entirety, for God Himself says, sliver and gold are mine (Hag. 2:8). Those who acquire their wealth illegally do not have God’s approval, and God would require them to give account. The same way you will be asked to give account of what you do with your resources as a Christian.

For the Centurion, a Gentile, he built a synagogue for the Jews. He must have gotten that inspiration from God, for He controls all the affairs of man (Psalms. 22:28). Though he was in the service of Caesar, he acknowledged the God of the Jews, and the need to serve Him with what he has been given by this same God. Are the wealth among us not ashamed when they have to join other poor people in the church to contribute the same amount of money for church project? Andz sometimes, we look down on the poor who couldn’t pay theirs on time. Oh no! But you don’t care spending on frivolities, parties and junks; perishables. Why not gather your treasure in heaven? What good thing would your community, the widows, the less-privileged, the orphans and the children department of your church, remember you for? One of the international celebrations today is against discrimination. Stop discriminating against the less privileged.

A day comes when your account will be opening for a reward. For the Centurion, the elders couldn’t joke with his case; you had done well for the Jews. Can those living around you rise up for you when you need help? Your community’s bad road, that primary school on your street, etc. deserve your attention. Think of what to do with your money, talent, gifts, etc. in the name of the Lord. Arise today! Arise for Jesus!.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, forgive my wasteful and non-rewarding spending.

2. Lord, Jesus, help me never to engage in unprofitable ventures and concentrate on heavenly ventures.

3. Lord, please rid our church members of poverty mentality that makes them give the worst when it comes to giving that have Kingdom value and reward.
