March 8, 2021 Mountain Of Fire Devotional : Topic – : Life Is A Battle

TOPIC: Life Is A Battle

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 31-32

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 (KJV)

9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

MEMORY VERSE: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
In every battle lies a hidden breakthrough and the greater the battle the more powerful the testimony.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
THE EVIL STRONGMAN RAGING AGAINST YOU SHALL FALL, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

Life is a battle and as we overcome one battle, another emerges. Psalm 34:19 captures this fact of life vividly. It tells us that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all. Righteousness does not immune a person from the battle of life. Both the righteous and the sinners experience the battle of life, but the righteous, according to the promise of God, shall overcome all his battles.

The battles of life come in different shapes, colours, degrees and in diverse manners. They do not discriminate and have no regard for your status. The battle of Jabez started from his birth. His mother placed a curse upon him the day he was born by giving him a name which put him at a disadvantage before his siblings and relatives. Jabez means sorrow. It was not clear why his mother gave him that name but from the prayers he prayed, we saw that his life was miserable until he called on God who delivered him.

Joseph was specially loved by his father, Jacob, and had no battle until he was 17 years old. His destiny and star positioned him for a battle which lasted for 13 years before he got a reprieve from God. He moved from the pit to the hand of the Medianites, and then to Egypt, and to prison and finally to the palace as the second in command in Egypt. His battle came to fulfil the purpose of God for his life, using his own blood brothers’ envy and jealousy. God sometimes could be the one behind our battles.

The battle of Job was God’s test of will and satan’s blackmail against Job. Job was vindicated and God was glorified. There is no battle without a reason. The earlier we decode the cause of our battles, the better for us.

The major battle of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ came at the latter part of his life and because He overcame, we have victory over every battle that confronts our lives. There is no victory without a battle and there is no battle without a cause. The reason why God sometimes allows battle to confront us is to glorify Himself in our lives. Battles are not meant to break us but to give us breakthroughs. When we overcome our battles, our faith becomes stronger and our spiritual stamina waxes stronger. Are you being confronted by any battle today? It is for God to be glorified.
