HELP FROM ABOVE.

Read:  Genesis 21:14-20

Genesis 21:14-20 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

MEMORISE:

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. (Psalms 121:1-2).

EXPOSITION

One woman in the Bible cried unto a king for help. This is the reply the king gave her: If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? (2 Kgs.6:27). Although, this king did not belong to God’s side, yet he had understanding that true and lasting help only comes from God. Today, many of us are like this woman thinking that man can help us without God’s endorsement. No one can help you, if God does not touch the heart of the person for you. Needless to say, you will find help nowhere, if God does not help you.

Human help is like the bottle of water Abraham gave to Hagar, his bondwoman; it will not serve the purpose, because it will not last. Scarcely had Abraham sent her away when the water was gone. When the water ran dry, Hagar totally lost hope of the survival of her little baby (vv.15,16). Unexpectedly, God proved His unlimited power to provide water in the dried land to secure the life of Qatar’s son, for the plan of God for his life must come to pass (v.18). KJV:And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. (v.19).

On the other hand, help from above is like a well of water that will continue to flow to meet our daily needs. Help from above is characterized by quality, originality, and fullness. Help from above has no stress and disappointment. Elijah had direct experience of this as recorded in 1 Kings 19v5-8. If your help conew from above, no person can have boastful statement about your success and achievement in life. Like the Psalmist, learn to always lift up yours eyes, for your help will surely come from our heavenly Father who made heaven and earth. It is this God of ours who can show your picture to another person to help you on His behalf. In the light of the foregoing, have it in mind that lasting help only comes from God on this World Ovarian Cancer Day. Don’t forget that God rules in the administration of man (Dan.2:21)

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, send Your help to my life from above.

2. Father, reveal my picture to the people You have chosen to help me, and connect me with those You want me to help in a way or the other.

3. Lord Jesus, May the cry of those suffering ovarian cancer and other forms of cancer reach You right now for Your speedy healing attention.
