NEW EXPERIENCE
Read: Luke 13:10-17
Luke 13:10-17 Now Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
And there was a woman there who for eighteen years had had an infirmity caused by a spirit (a demon of sickness). She was bent completely forward and utterly unable to straighten herself up or to look upward.
And when Jesus saw her, He called [her to Him] and said to her, Woman, you are released from your infirmity!
Then He laid [His] hands on her, and instantly she was made straight, and she recognized and thanked and praised God.
But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, There are six days on which work ought to be done; so come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath day.
But the Lord replied to him, saying, You playactors (hypocrites)! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead it out to water it?
And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?
Even as He said this, all His opponents were put to shame, and all the people were rejoicing over all the glorious things that were being done by Him.
MEMORISE:
When the Lord brought back the captives [who returned] to Zion, we were like those who dream [it seemed so unreal]. (Psalms 126:1).
EXPOSITION
It is the desire of every man to have a pleasant new experience. The experience of a new birth-salvation, of a new job, a new joy, etc., Why? Man’s want is always insatiable. He will want something different from what He used to – a new taste. New experience can be sweet or bitter, but the former is the desire of man.
Jabez, dishonorable man, experience shame, pain, reproach, etc., but his new experience of God of Israel earned him the “honoured”. Any pleasant, new experience desires by man, is only guaranteed in Him. His thought towards all is good and this can’t be aborted with our cooperation.
Do you have pains? Are you sick? Do you experience disappointment? The Scripture says: by His stripes: you are healed. He took away infirmities. It has never been said of Him to have disappointed anyone. He who believes in Him, shall never be put to shame says the Scripture. God promised that the desire of Egypt is not to be fulfilled on you.
Things unexpectedly turned sour for Job, yet God gave him an experience that was more glorious than the one he ever had. Christians can have new experience as Jabez, if only they will do what He did. He approached God and made his request known to Him in prayers. Prayer is an opportunity available to us, but to ask and receive, we need to be right with Him. But, He answered and said ‘It is not good to take the children bread and throw it to the little dogs’ Matt.15:26. Be bold in your approach; be precise and specific in your request. He can’t deny His children, if you are one of them as they ask for things in line with His purpose for them (1 Jn.5v14).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Pray that God will give you a new experience that will cause you to smile, laugh and sing songs of praises to God.
2. Pray for God’s grace and strength for those that are having unpleasant experiences in their home, family, marriage, business, offices, etc.
3. Pray for the missionaries in their various fields that the mighty hands of God will see them through and give them a safe landing.
