GOING A FISHING AGAIN.

Read John 21:1-13

MEMORISE: Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, ” We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing (John 21:3).

EXPOSITION

The success or failure of any organization rises and falls on its leadership Christ’s disciples derailed after He revealed His resurrected body. Obviously, because Jesus Christ was no longer with them in the flesh, they weren’t ready to continue with the assignment He had given them. After Christ’s resurrection, they seemed not to know the way forward. They were confused. Peter, their natural leader, decided to go back where Jesus Christ had called them.

Dear devout, Paul expressly claimed that if he built up those things he had once pulled down, he became an offender or transgressor. What are those things you have forsaken for Christ and His Gospel’s sake? Have you not stylishly gone back to them? Those things may not necessarily be sinful. They may be convenience, luxuries or affections that you once deemed destructive and distractive to your calling. All these you once relinquished at Christ’s feet in exchange for carrying out His assignment. Hope circumstances have not made you to go back to them again?

Though the Disciples of Christ went back to fishing, the Bible says, …. that night, they caught nothing. That readily informs that every effort made outside Christ’s will amounts to labour loss. Our Rabboni charges us to leave all (including cherished pleasurable things and luxuries) that are capable of distracting us from walking with him and working for His kingdom. He wants all His followers to seek first His kingdom.

If you fail to squarely face what He has called you to do with, and for Him, count yourself out of the faithful stewards He would reward. The business and call of God demands totality, concentrates, passion, steadfastness and cooperation with Him (God) and other believers, even as today commemorates International Day of Cooperatives. Don’t let God doubt your professed love for Him more than other things! He still asks, Do you love Me more than these? (wealth, fame, goodies, conveniences and the likes) What Is Your Answer? Then, feed His sheep.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Ask God to forgive your drifting away from His purpose for your life for any reasons.

2. Lord, deliver me from the distractions Satan has set on my part to take me off the track of my race with, and for You.

3. Pray for missionaries who are at the verge of quitting their fields due to frustration from the apparent lack of success there in.
