EXPOSITION
Thank God for the powerful revelation of great lessons that we should learn from the life of Prophet Daniel, that God chose to give us in the Living Water dose yesterday. Honestly, Daniel lived a very positively challenging life, and left behind a godly legacy for all succeeding generations (cf. 1 Cor. 10:11). What are you leaving behind for those coming after you? That would determine how your life would be evaluated – successful or otherwise.
Most importantly, Daniel made himself available to God. He was fully available to God whenever He needed him. Availability determines usability. Can God depend on you? Are you easily and readily accessible to Him? In addition, Daniel was a man who honoured God with his God-given gifts (2:46-48). He was the type who would reject the gentile king’s bribe just to show to them God’s faithfulness and incorruptibility. How do you discharge your duty with your God-given gifts? Do you monetise them?
Moreover, when Daniel’s faith was put to rest, he stood his ground. He proved the fact that he was a man of integrity, such that they could not bring any charge against him – monetary, sexual, power abuse, etc., unless that found ‘against him concerning the law of his God’ (6:5). What a man of integrity. Your devotion and dedication to God would be put to test in the face of trials. That God is using you doesn’t immune you from life’s challenges. Daniel held firm to his faith. Despite all they did to him, he still held fast the Hebrew Spirit (6:4-5). What is your spiritual breaking point?
Finally, Daniel was a man of purposeful and persistent prayer. How is your prayer life? Daniel’s name was changed in captivity. Yet, he never allowed his faith in God to be replaced by any other thing. What have you intentionally changed to, in the name of wanting to ‘associate’? For you to be truly successful, be determined and purposeful for the Lord, like Daniel.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help me not to merchandise Your gift in my life, in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, equip me with everything I need, spiritually, materially, academically, emotionally, etc. to truly succeed in life.
3. Pray for Christians who are called into politics, to be enabled to represent God, and God alone, in their political career, like Daniel.
