THE DOOM OF FALSE PROPHETS
Read: Jeremiah 28:1-16
MEMORISE: But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken in order to turn you away from the LORD your God… (Deuteronomy 13:5)
EXPOSITION
It is horrible how the seat of false prophets and prophecies is gradually displacing the seat of true prophets and prophecies in churches, today. May God, in His power and mercy, uproot every satanic and demonic seat that has in any way taken over the prophecy of the Church. This will lead to the sweeping of those who are not part of the Church but have hijacked the prophecy and power of the Church through their use of means and gimmicks.
In the text for today, we shall see again, how Jeremiah stood against false prophets and prophecies. It takes the original to combat the fake. Where the original is hiding, the fake thrives, but when the original surfaces, fakes definitely fizzle out. Remember, in those days, Elijah had to challenge the prophets of Baal to a contest, to see the one that is supreme between the living Yahweh and Baal.
False prophets meet their doom when the true prophets stand tall for God, presenting themselves always in His counsel, like Micaiah who stood against about 400 prophets of Baal (2 Chro. 18:8-27). The battle has just begun. The era of falsehood would soon be over in the Church. Truth will prevail, because the testimony of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10). Sooner than later, as the people of God rise to the occasion and become their own prophets, just as Moses wished that all the people of God would become prophets, false prophecy would give way to Christ’s truth in the Church. To combat false prophecy, we must be deeply rooted in God’s Word (Deut. 13:1-5). The false prophets should be punitively exposed, to lead them back to Christ where possible.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord Jesus, let Your Spirit take over my life, so that I won’t be penetrated by falsehood from the pit of hell.
2. Lord, deliver Your Church from false prophets/teachers and messages.
3. Lord, punitively expose the peddlers of falsehood in the Church.
