TOPIC: Say No To Powerlessness (I)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 41:41-57, Genesis 42, Matthew 14:22-36, Matthew 15:1-9, Psalm 12:1-8

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Judges 6:11-16 (KJV)

11 And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.

12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

14 And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

15 And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.

16 And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.

MEMORY VERSE: “O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” – 2 Chronicles 20:12

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
It is a tragedy to live a powerless life as a Christian; to reign in life, you need God’s presence and power.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
TODAY, I DECREE THAT THE LORD WILL MOVE YOU FROM BEING A POWERLESS CHRISTIAN TO A SPIRIT-FILLED CHRISTIAN, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

Mountain Top Life MESSAGE:

A Christian is first and foremost a soldier of Christ who is aware that there is an ongoing spiritual battle, and he remains an active participant, fighting on God’s side. He is expected to be aware of the indispensability of spiritual power and is willing to pay the price to obtain it.

A Christian is most effective and profitable to God and His Kingdom when he is Spirit-filled and blessed with the character of Christ. On the other hand, a powerless Christian is not an asset but a liability. The reason is that he cannot fulfil the purpose of heaven or be of positive impact and influence to others. Such a person cannot truly and fully fulfil the divine status of salt and light of the earth, standing out as a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden.

Powerlessness has robbed many believers of many valuable things, spiritually and physically. Lack of power will make a believer unable to have his enemies as his footstool or to rule and prosper in their midst. When there is powerlessness, a person will be ruled by those he should rule and serve those he should not serve. Similarly, a powerless person will be helpless in the face of oppression, deprivation and injustice. He will be denied his right, robbed and shortchanged at will.

Until God raised and empowered Moses to confront Pharaoh and demand the release of His children, the Israelites remained in slavery, bondage and hard labour for 430 years under the tyrannical king. Moses’ encounter with God at the burning bush, prepared and equipped him to be lord over Pharaoh and to subdue the powers in Egypt. Similarly, Israel suffered and groaned under the severe oppression of the Midianites until God raised Gideon, clothed him with His power, made him a man of valour and Israel’s deliverer (Judges 6:12). You need God’s power to stop the activities of wicked elders, domestic witchcraft, evil environmental powers, territorial demons and all works of the evil one in your life.

Dearly beloved, you must arise and do everything that is biblically required to move from being a powerless Christian to a Spirit-filled Christian, becoming God’s battle axe. You must say no to powerlessness!
