AGE 13-19 TEACHER’S MANUAL

SUNDAY 30TH OF JANUARY, 2021

LESSON TWENTY TWO (22)

TOPIC: ATTRACTING GOD’S BLESSINGS (THE GIVER)

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Chron. 22:14-19; Matt. 6:19-21

1 Chronicles 22:14-19

[14]Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.

[15]Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.

[16]Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.

[17]David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,

[18]Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.

[19]Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.

Matthew 6:19-21

[19]Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

[20]But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

[21]For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

HYMN FOR TODAY: To God be the glory, great things He has done

MEMORY VERSE: “Give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running Over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” Luke 6:38

LESSON AIM: At the end of the study, teens should earn how to give to God and men to attract God’s blessings.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Giving is God’s way of blessing His children/the givers. Giving is a command so, learn to give.

INTRODUCTION: Giving is the act of sharing things with others especially those that don’t have. God is the originator ot giving – John 3:16. God shows us the way to give – Romans 8:32. Obedience and compliance to the principles of God attract His blessings. The bible says it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). The Lord loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 2:7). lt delights Him to see His children gladly opening their hearts and hands to provide for the needs of His Church. Through Apostle Paul, God repeatedly commends and praises those who gave of their funds and ot themselves to God’s work (2 Corinthians 8:1).

STUDY GUIDE

A. A RARE GIVER – DAVID

– The man David is a good example of a giver who was blessed and he challenged others to give to the Lord.

– Though David was not the builder (Solomon), he provided the needed materials.

– David delighted in giving substantially and sacrificially. 2 Samuel 24:24

– David gave gold, silver and bronze that could not be weighed bountifully, not casually.

– He gave his talent by playing his flute for king Saul – his enemy.

B. WHAT TO GIVE:

– First fruits – Proverbs 3:9

– Offering/general giving: To receive blessings from giving offering, it must be given willingly and with a cheerful heart – 1 Chronicles 29:14; Exodus 35:4-5. The giving that is done in secret attracts blessings – Matthew 6:1-4

– Tithes: One tenth of earnings belong to God. It’s a curse to withhold it and not pay. Malachi 3:10-12; Leviticus 27:30; Deuteronomy 14:22-23

– Service: Serving God with one’s talents also brings blessings. God is pleased with teenagers who make use of their potentials in serving Him. For example, those who serve in choir, alter workers, sanitation service and others.

– Sharing what you have with others is indirectly giving to God and such also attract blessings to the giver. For example; clothes, shoes, food, accommodation, time etc.

C. LESSONS TO LEARN ABOUT GIVING:

– Do not announce what you give. Matthew 6:1

– Do not regret after giving. Luke 6:30

– God is happy with those who give sacrificially. Hebrews 13:16

– Give what is good. Malachi 1:7-8

– Giving is compared to lending to God, He pays back. Proverbs 19:17

– Do not give to those who will reward you. Luke 6:34

– God gives you back according to the measure you give out. Luke 6:38

– The giver is richer than those who withhold or don’t give. Proverbs 11:24

D. SOME REWARDS OF GIVING:

– Giving brings joy to the giver. 1 Chronicles 29:9

– It makes the giver richer. Proverbs 11:24-25

– The giver receives from others. Luke 6:38

– Giving brings blessings from God. Malachi 3:10\

LIFE APPLICATION: Start practicing giving from today no matter how small.

CONCLUSION: It is wise to give when the gift will be useful and acceptable. Some gifts arrive late and can’t meet desired needs because they are belated. May the opportunity to give and receive blessings not pass us in Jesus’ Name. lt is commonly said that GIVERS DON’T LACK.
