TOPIC: WHAT YOU ARE TO GOD
Read Jeremiah 51:19-23
MEMORISE: The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart (Proverbs 20:27)
EXPOSITION
‘So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them’ (Gen. 1:27). Every human being is capable of being like God in all things, according to creation. He was made a god: that is, given ability to give life, recreate, administer, rule and dominate both naturally and spiritually. This dual role of his therefore necessitates him to have knowledge, wisdom, understanding, ability, strength, revelation and power for him to be what he was made to be. Just as he is supposed to be holy, all these were given (1 Cor. 12:4-7; cf. Psa. 82:6).
As an instrument in the hand of his Master, he is described as A BATTLE AXE. This is not a pleasant duty, but true and necessary. Samson, prophet Jeremiah, and all the prophets of old, John the Baptist, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Disciples, and the subsequent ones like Paul the apostle, among others, were examples of those that God used in this dimension. We are to summit to our Maker to use us as He desires (Lk. 2:34,35). However, we can decide to be vessels unto honour or otherwise (2 Tim. 2:19-21).
Second is that we are the CANDLE of the LORD. It is written, ‘The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly’ (Prov. 20:27 KJV). The Lord Jesus Christ confirms this thus: ‘You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light so shine before men’ (Matt. 5:14,16). The Church Universal is described as “Candlestick” and “Lamp” (Zech. 4:1ff; cf. Rev. 1:12,13,20). We are God’s agents of light and discovery. Darkness must not reside in our dwellings. Also, we must desist from all questionable activities. Continue to shine for the Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank God for making you in His image and likeness.
2. Ask God to make you a vessel unto honour.
3. Pray for CAC Odusona Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.
