IT CAN’T BE WELL WITH THE WICKED

Read: Ecclesiastes 8:10-13

Ecclesiastes 8:10-13  And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:

But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.

MEMORISE: But the wicked are like troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt (Isaiah 57:20)

EXPOSITION

It is not out of place to say this is a wicked world. Wickedness has pervaded the hearts of men to such an extent that the love of God has waned in their hearts. Those practices considered outlawed before, are no longer seen in that light anymore because of the prevalence of evil. It is easy now to mitigate atrocities and consider them as normal and acceptable in the society. Those who are supposed to condemn these dastardly acts seem to have lacked the willpower to do so. May be, because they are bought over, or they don’t want people to speak ill about them.

The world is at the brink of collapse because of the evil being perpetrated daily. The children of God (children of light) are in great danger because they dwell among the ungodly who love darkness more than the Light. God detests wickedness. His Word totally kicks against it. For instance, the Bible says so much about the wickedness of Jeroboam. His wickedness became a reference point in Israel that God compared any wicked king to. He turned Israel back from God and led them into idolatry. Did he go scot-free? Not at all. God dealt with him and his household. He died an awful death for lack of resource to God, who gave him the opportunity to have ten out of twelve tribes of Israel. God made him king when he was not entitled to the throne; he had no royal blood, yet God made him king over His own people. What a rear privilege! However, he blew the opportunity.

The truth is, everyone who chooses the wicked path always has one reason or the other to live for God, but they only decide to go against Him, because of their evil inherent in them. Think about God and all His goodness to you before you do that wicked act (cf. Gen. 39:9). Also, remember that there is the curse of God on the wicked. Repent now, so that it can be well with you (Acts 17:30).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, save me from the snare of the devil and all his wicked wiles.

2. Lord, don’t allow me to fall into evil and the ditch of wicked that the devil fell into.

3. Lord, rebuke the spirit of wickedness in the hearts of those leaders who have chosen to go the wicked paths.
