THE AGE OF YOUR CHALLENGE DOES NOT MATTER
READ LUKE 13V10-17
10:On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,
11:and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.
12:When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.”
13:Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
14:Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”
15:The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?
16:Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”
17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.
MEMORISE NIV:Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.
(Matthew 9v20).
EXPOSITION
There was once a woman who has a unique challenge- bent over and could not in no way raise herself up (Luke 13v11). “Terrible, you would say. How would a woman (a woman, for that matter) be bent over, packed downward like folding a piece of paper? To worsen matters, she was in that condition for 18 horrible years. What a painful situation! Another instance is what happened in the context of our memory Scripture (Matthew 9v18ff). The said incidence precede the one earlier described. Evangelist Luke records it in 8:40-56 of his book. We read of a woman who had a flow (issue) of blood…, and this, for twelve years (Matt.9v20). Like records that she had spent all her livelihood on physical and could not be healed by any (Lk.8v43), and this for 12 years? Horrible indeed! The medical personnel can describe well what it would have meant in terms of pain to the above mentioned woman. Being bent over for years (18)? Blood issuing out of a woman for 12 years? The ages of their challenges notwithstanding, Jesus visited them with restoration-the former was straightened (Lk.13,12,13)); the latter had her flow of blood stopped (8v43ff).
There is no situation too old, critical, or bad for Christ to handle (c.f. Lk.1v37). What is the age of your present situation/challenge? Look at how Jesus intervened in the precarious situation of the man at Bethesda (Jn.5v1ff). The age of his own problem was even more than those of the two eariler women discussed – 38 years of infirmity (v.5). How long did it take Jesus to lift him out of the infirmity (vv.6ff)? How long did it take God to deliever the Israelites from the slavery of centuries? Jesus is more than capable to settle your situation, the age of your predicament, notwithstanding. All He needs from you is to cooperate with Him in terms of accepting His lordship and being where He desires you to be at the right time. Your miracle is now, in Jesus name. Amen.

1. Lord Jesus, I praise You, for I know and believe You are bigger than all issues (problems).
2. Lord, prove Your incontrovertible supremacy over every trying and threatening situation in my life, now in Jesus name.
3. Pray for CAC Latunde Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and it’s officers at the various levels, as led by the spirit of God.
