PREPARE THE WAY

Bible Text: Mark 1:1-4
Memory Verse: ‘A voice of one calling in the wilderness, “Prepare the way for the LORD, and make straight paths for him.’ ” Mark 1:3, NIV
During my secondary school days, Ibrahim Babangida came to Oyo State and he visited Ogbomoso among other places. We saw soldiers around Ogbomoso and very early in the morning, more soldiers were seen at different locations in preparation for the arrival of the president. The school principals released students to line up along the road awaiting the president. We waited for hours. About an hour before the president arrived, we saw soldiers riding motorcycles, and armoured tanks clearing the road of any other road users. Then the president arrived after the road was clear and free.
Jesus Christ is the president of the universe. When He came to the world, John the Baptist played the role of clearing the way for His coming. This is why he did the ministry of water baptism in Jordan River. His preaching and baptismal services sparked a new fire of revival in Palestine which really prepared people for the ministry of Jesus Christ.
Today, Jesus Christ wants to dwell in the hearts of people around you: He wants to be their LORD and Saviour. Your godly life and your preaching are important tools He wants to use to win the people unto Himself. The absence of these tools will push people far away from the One who is willing to save them. Will you let Jesus down among the people? Make yourself available so He can make use of you as His vessel.
Insight: The gospel becomes powerful when people see it in your character.
Prayer: My heavenly Father, let my life be a powerful message from you to the world!
