CHRIST ALONE SAVES

Bible Text: Acts 4:8-12
Memory Verse: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12, NIV
A seminary student went to the prison camp for prisoners who have been pardoned but have to farm for the government for one year. The student went with a TV and VCR and showed the film, The Ten Commandments. When the Hebrew slaves were shown with Moses, the prisoners saw the similarity to themselves. They raised their voices at the student and yelled, “This is us and you are our Moses.” The student said, “No I only point the way to Jesus.”
After the arrest of Peter and John, the council now puts the apostles “on a mat”, to examine them. Peter took the lead, and filled with the Holy Spirit, he made it clear that the LORD Jesus Christ is the sole source of salvation for all humankind, there is no other name given under the heaven whereby man must be saved. To reject Christ is to be lost totally.
Had they compromised on this point they would have had no trouble from the council, but Peter is adamant; there is no other name that speaks of salvation, for there is none who has satisfied the Father’s holy demands as the Son. Always point the way of Jesus. Tell others there is no better way to follow but to follow Christ.
Insight: If there are no problems, there are no opportunities to see God at work.
Prayer: LORD, let me daily proclaim only You.
