PLANTED AND ROOTED IN HIM

EXPOSITION
Today commemorates World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought and one of the ways to fight the battle is by planting trees. When an object is placed somewhere else, it differs clearly from when it is planted. A placed object can be displaced but even when a planted object is cut off, there is hope that it will sprout at the scent of water. A plant that has got attached to the soil gets the required nutrients for growth and maturity. When a tree has grown big, it becomes very difficult for it to be uprooted, unlike the one that is still a seedling. This is the pictogram of every child of God. When you become a believer in Christ, you are planted in Him, but as you continue to grow, you become deeply rooted in Him (Psa.92:13).

Being firmly attached to the soil with its roots, the plant becomes virile and vital but when you see a tree or crop that is not firmly supported with enough soil and nutrient, such cannot stand the test of time. Both rooted crops and surface ones face the same test of wind, storm, and other external aggressions. However, only the firmly established ones will survive. This is why you need to go deep in the Lord. Any tree that is fortunate to be planted by the river suffers no drought, even at times expected. It remains evergreen. This is because its roots continue to go deep to find the water. The water is a living one that streams from the courts of our God. It flows into the hearts that are lifted to Him from eternity to eternity. The call is out to you today to ensure to continue to get a regular supply of His Living Water through a daily and devotional study of His Word, fervent prayers, and constant fellowshipping. Doing this makes you continue to be rooted deeper in Him.

When you are rooted in Him, you can weather the storms of life. You will be like a house planted on a rock; no fears even when storms or whirlwind comes. You will continually be fruitful in His courts because you have root in Him. Many do not get to this depth because they refuse to allow God’s Word to find root in them; as they hear it, they jettison and it fails to mix up with faith in their hearts (Heb. 4:1-2). To avoid this, always lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your soul (Jas. 1:21). Stay rooted in Him.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, take me deeper in You, in Jesus’

2. Lord, assist the listeners to the name.

3. Lord, restore true discipleship that would make members of the Church deeply rooted in You.
