Be Ready

Read John 14:1-4
1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
4 And you know the way to where I am going.”

MEMORIZE: And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. (Matthew 24:12)

EXPOSITION
As Jesus was rounding off His early ministry, He told His disciples of His own departure, which would mean His going away in a cloud of suffering. They were all troubled at heart and equally sorrowful, upon hearing this from Him. Their thought was that Christ had come to stay, and to deliver Israel. Christ took notice of their countenance, comforted them, and told them as many that would walk with, and serve Him here on earth, a place is prepared for them. If Christ had gone to prepare a place for His saints in His Father’s kingdom, will you be ready to reign with Him?

Many Christians that started the race to eternity have lost focus. They have missed the radar, and some are beginning to lose it, because of distractions, insensitivity to their spiritual life, laziness in the things of God, and ungodly association. The love of many Christian has waxed cold. They have forsaken their first love for Christ and the things of God (Rev. 2v4). This is evident in the way some now do things for God and for the sake of the gospel with lackadaisical attitudes, so lukewarm that man himself would abhor them.

It is not too late for you to retrace your steps and return to your first love-love for Christ, His people, and His things. Do not be satisfied with your current spiritual state; that is complacency. Instead, strive to improve, and move closer to God, on a daily basis. Learn to watch and be expectant of Christ’s return. To facilitate this, honestly and objectively examine your Christian walk daily (2 Cor.13v5). Regularly remind yourself that Christ has gone to prepare a place for you in heaven. He has gone to make provision for all of us. The joy of reigning with Him in heaven should make you want to do all in your power, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to be among the saints that Christ is coming for. Do away with any thing that can disqualify you from being among the saints of Christ. Be ready for His return.
