NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENT (2)

READ: MARK 3:1-6

3:1 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.

3:2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.

3:3 And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

3:4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

3:6 And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

MEMORISE:
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin (James 4v17)

EXPOSITION
Today’s happens to be just a day after the commemoration of the World Environmental Day, which borders on how we can make our environment better. Some times, to enjoy the best of God and make others profit from it, you may need to disavow yourself from toxic people, in both thoughts and actions (Mk.3:3-5). Please, realise that not everybody around you wishes you happiness, or is eager to see others get breakthrough through your involvement. Some people are happy seeing peoples lives unchanged and their ministry static.

According to our anchor text today, some of the people present in the Synagogue were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus to death, if He healed the man with the shrunken hand, and of course, He did heal him. Always have faith in yourself and be courageous to challenge your negative environment as Jesus did, and it will bow to your God.

David, as a growing boy, skilled in playing on the harp, was brought into a negative environment (1 Sam.16:14-16) to serve a distressed and irrational monarch. Nevertheless, despite the craziness of the working environment, he ended up being the next king, wearing the crown of Saul. This shows that every Christian has what it takes to overcome the toxicity of any environment he/she lives and works in. Always switch on the power of God in you, anywhere, and you will discover that you are more than who you think you are, and you can positively affect your generation in turning things around for a long time even after your departure.

Today, we read and talk about Jesus and David. Joshua and Caleb too, overturned their negative environment with good and encouraging reports, (Num.14:6-9) of the land espied, and God rewarded them (Jos.14:6-14). Do not allow what people call impossibilities or what your environment labels difficulties dictates your pursuits of excellence in ministry and life. Jesus, and the man that was healed broke through their negative environments. Go and do likewise, today.
