SEEK DAILY (NBC)

THE HOLY CITY

Date: Monday, August 29, 2022

Bible Text: Revelation 21:10-12, 22-27

Memory Verse: “Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:27, NIV

Alain de Botton, the British-Swiss philosopher, identified six qualities of attractive cities as having a unique order, visible life, compactness, orientation, scale, and a sense of the local people. These qualities endear tourists to such cities but the best of all cities is the Holy City of God.

The brilliance of the Holy City is second to none (Revelation 21:11). God Himself is the temple in the new city (Revelation 21:22). God’s glory provides the illumination that is needed while Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, is the lamp of the city (Revelation 21:23). The Holy City is opened for men to access because its gates are never shut (Revelation 21:25). Only those who are redeemed and have their names written in the Book of Life can have access to this city. It has no space for the impure or anyone who involves in shameful practices (Revelation 21:27).

The Holy City is not meant for tourists, but indigenes. Becoming an indigene requires been born of God and not continuing in sin. Give your heart to God totally today.

Insight: The most beautiful city on earth is nothing to compare with the city of God.

Prayer: LORD, may I not miss my place in your city.

RBT Passage: Ezekiel 18-20
