CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

TOPIC: UNCOMPROMISED IN A COMPROMISED WORLD

READ: Revelation 3:7-13

[7] And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

[8] I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

[9] Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

[10] Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

[11] Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

[12] Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

[13] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

MEMORISE:

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)

EXPOSITION

The word uncompromised is defined as being inflexible and unwilling to negotiate or make concessions; and being principled. The temple in Jerusalem represented the presence of God with Israel. God redeemed the Israelites and gave them a new law to serve as a guide. He warned them against deviating from His law, but the Israelites of God forgot His law because of worldly comfort and wealth. Christians are the temple of the living God-God’s habitation. God has called us to walk and relate with Him, and that is non-negotiable, come rain or sun. Are we in any way different from the Israelites?

Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, He gave His assessment of the 7 churches in the book of Revelation which symbolises the different types of churches today. Jesus gave a thump up for the Philadelphian church as a faithful, loyal and uncompromising church. The church kept the command to persevere; they kept the Word and the name of Christ.

Dear reader, what will be Jesus’ report on you as His temple? How is your first love for God? Watch out for these signs of a compromised church-worldliness, spiritual pride, cold love for God, indifference to the things of God, self-righteousness, evil association, spiritual blindness and association and false doctrines. If truly we are pursuing the heaven that Apostle Paul pursued, we should boldly say with him that nothing shall separate us from the love of Christ (Rom. 8:35).

Remember, sin, no matter how small it is, will dull man’s ears (Acts 28:27), darken the eyes (Eph. 4:18), and doom the soul (Ezk. 18:4). Take care of the temple of Christ that you are, by casting out whatever is in you that can corrupt you and make Christ come to fight against you with the sword of His mouth (Rev. 2:16). The world is compromised; but don’t compromise!

PRAYER POINTS

1. Pray that God will open your eyes to that habit/character/sin that can dull your ears and make you a compromised Christian.

2. Pray that God will send His consuming fire to destroy every sign and element of compromise in you.

3. Call upon God to send the fire of revival to His Church in the land, and consume every form of retrogression signalling compromise.

HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB 460

1. There is a book, who runs may read,
Which heav’nly truth imparts;
And all the lore its scholars need,
Pure eyes and Christian hearts.

2. The works of God above, below,
Within us and around,
Are pages in that book to show
How God Himself is found.

3. The glorious sky embracing all
Is like the Maker’s love;
Wherewith encompass’d, great and small
In peace and order move.

4. One Name, above all glorious names,
With its ten thousand tongues
The everlasting sea proclaims,
Echoing angelic songs.

5. Thou who hast giv’n me eyes to see
And love this sight so fair,
Give me a heart to find out Thee
And read Thee everywhere.

Amen.
