PREPARATION BEFORE MANIFESTATION

Read: Luke 9:1-10
[1]Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
[2]And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
[3]And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
[4]And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
[5]And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
[6]And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
[7]Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;
[8]And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
[9]And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
[10]And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

MEMORISE: And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida (Luke 9:10).

EXPOSITION
Christian walk and living are not to be taken with levity. It must be taken with all seriousness, hence the need for preparation. We are living in a world where we have large number of half-baked Christians (cf. Hos. 7:8). They skip that process of preparation, and begin to show-off their so-called abilities/gifts. No wonder we have a lot of accidental believers in the Christian fold today.

Our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, while on earth taught and trained the disciples. He was preparing them for the task ahead. For three-and-half years, the disciples were under the instruction of the Great Teacher. Christ trained them for His service. Christ prepared them so that they would have success in their work. At the expiration of the preparatory period, He sent them on assignment and gave them a mandate to do and say all what they had heard and learnt from Him. The Apostles never left hurriedly out of the preparatory class; no wonder they could turn the world upside down during their time; that was divinely-ordained manifestation.

Dear devout, we come to church, listen to sermons, sing, pray, study the Word of God; all these are means of preparing us to go into the world and manifest Christ’s Presence and Power. We receive training, spiritual counselling, all in a bid to get us prepared for the assignment committed into our hands. The period you spend in your personal devotion with God goes a long way in showing the world the stuff you are made of. The level of your preparation in any field shows when it is time for your manifestation. Proper preparation is the key to avoiding poor manifestation.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Pray that God will give you the grace to wait patiently in the place of preparation, before you show forth to your world.
2. Pray that God will give power to His Word being preached by His servants, so that it will liberate souls.
3. Pray that God’s grace will help you fulfil your God-given purpose and destiny, and you will not die without fulfilling all you are destined for.

HYMN FOR TODAY: CAC GHB 92
1. O Magnify the Lord with me,
Ye people of His choice!
Let all to whom He lendeth breath
Now in His name rejoice,
For love’s blest revelation,
For rest from condemnation,
For uttermost salvation,
To Him give thanks.

Chorus:
Let all …the people praise Thee,
Let all …the people praise Thee!
Let all …the people praise Thy name
For ever and for evermore
For ever more O Lord!
Let all …the people praise Thee
Let all …the people praise Thee
Let all …the people praise Thy name
For ever and for ever more.

2. O praise Him for His holiness,
His wisdom and His grace,
Sing praises for the precious blood
Which ransom’d all our race;
In tenderness He sought us,
From depths of sin He brought us,
The way of life then taught us,
To Him give thanks.

3. Had I a thousand tongues to sing,
The half could ne’er be told
Of love so rich, so full and free,
Of blessings manifold;
Of grace that faileth never,
Peace flowing as a river
From God the glorious Giver,
To Him give thanks.

Amen.
