PRAY WITHOUT LIMITATION

Date: Saturday, October 01, 2022

Bible Text: Luke 18:1-8

Memory Verse: Then Jesus told his disciples … that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1, NIV

Welcome to the month of October, the month in which we commemorate Nigeria’s Independence. As citizens of Nigeria, the onus lies on us all to pray for our Nation and leaders. Persistent prayer honours God because it expresses our complete dependence on Him. We must avoid vain repetition so as to get His attention. At times, we receive immediate answers to prayers but can wait for days, weeks, months, or even years before seeing the manifestations.

The widow in the passage had an adversary, could not solve her own problem, had a genuine need, and eventually got what she wanted. The judge, in the story, did not have the fear of God, and was unwilling to help in the first instance. To him, the widow was just another troublesome woman but for the widow’s persistence, he feared she would “weary him out” with her “continual coming.” Though the judge did not feel her pains or worries but she eventually got justice because of her persistence. If an unrighteous earthly judge could help her get justice, our God, the Righteous Judge can do much more!

If you genuinely call upon God, trusting that He can do whatever we ask of Him, God will hear our cry and meet us at our points of need. The only thing that can be a hindrance to our prayer is sin. Therefore, repent of every sin and pray unto God according to His will.

Insight: Persistence is a costly investment, it is worth it!

Prayer: LORD, teach me to pray always and aright.

RBT Passage: Malachi 1-4
