LESSON SIXTEEN (16)
TOPIC: WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: OUR HELPER

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Corinthians 2:10-12
[10]But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
[11]For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
[12]Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

MEMORY VERSE: John 14:16 “And I will ask the father and He will give you another helper, to be with you forever”

LESSON AIM: At the end of the lesson, teenagers would understand the Holy Spirit is their helper

CENTRAL TRUTH: Without the Holy Spirit as our Helper, we can do nothing

INTRODUCTION: We all know that a helper is a person who assists or aids a person or group of persons to do a job in life or to achieve a purpose, I am sure we have all come across a helper or more who has helped us in many ways. As we have a physical helper, so we have a spiritual helper, the person of the Holy Spirit. He is the helper sent to assist us in order to live right for God the Father’s pleasure and
glory. When the comforter came (Our Helper). He came with all His Omni-attributes, so He can no longer be limited and He is able to minister to all God’s children universally. He was sent to assist us to love, obey and please God.

STUDY GUIDE
A.) HOW DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT HELP US
1. The Holy Spirit convinces and convicts unbelievers of sin. John 16:8
2. The Holy Spirit Helps us by giving us the boldness to testify about Jesus. John 15:26
3. The Holy Spirit is our teacher. John 14:26
4. The Holy Spirit helps us to Pray. Romans 8:26-27
5. The Holy Spirit helps us understand God’s Word. 1 Cor. 2:6-16
6. The Holy Spirit helps provide spiritual strength. Eph. 3:16
7. The Holy Spirit helps us by giving us specific instructions. Acts 13:2

B. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF HOW THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPED THE DISCIPLES
1. By giving them boldness to preach, Acts 4:31
2. By giving them wisdom over their adversaries. Acts 6:10
3 By empowering them for the assignment they were given. Acts 2:4
4. By giving them the revelation of things to come. Acts 11:28
5. By helping them to choose right. Acts 13:2
6. By opening doors of mission fields to them. Acts 16:6

LIFE APPLICATION: We cannot serve or please God without the help of the Holy Spirit. He is the support system of every believer and without Him, we can do nothing, especially for God. In our day-to-day life as we grow in Christ, we need the Holy Spirit to help us mature and know how best to please God

CONCLUSION: The reality and joy of walking in the Spirit cannot be attained simply by our determination and effort, but it is the work of the Holy Spirit. Our part is to surrender our lives to God and submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
