(World Day Against Trafficking in Person & International Friendship Day)

TOPIC: : THE NEED TO HIDE THAT CHILD

MEMORISE : So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel (Luke 1:80).

READ : Exodus 2:1-3

[1]. And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi.

[2]. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months.

[3]. But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.

EXPOSITION

In the event of damage, the cost of maintenance is significantly less than the cost of repair, especially damage incurred by human trafficking on the society, as today marks World Day Against Trafficking in Persons & International Friendship Day. Even though God is the Guardian of all, there is still a place for human obligations when it pertains to raising children. The manner in which some parents expose their children to the world, in terms of gifting and talents is quite challenging. No thanks to such carefree parents abusing social media. Moses’ mother noticed something very special about him that is why she hid him at home for three months (Exo. 2:1). Unlike this matriarch, many parents today would have begun to show him off on social media. That can be too dangerous. Yes, the earnest expectations of the creatures await the manifestations of the sons of God (Rom. 8:19)

Yet, John the Baptist was in the deserts until the day of His manifestation to Israel (Lk 1:80). How long was he hidden? Nevertheless, he eventually showed up, though not like every other child. His development was noticeable enough for records and he developed a robust spirit. A child who is exposed too early risks dying too soon, either physically or mentally. There is a season for everything (Eccl. 3:1ff), a time to hide and a time to manifest. The purpose is very clear, to preserve (Matt. 2:13-15), for consistent growth and to be strong in the spirit (Lk. 1:80)

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY
CAC GHB: 520

1. By cool Siloam’s shady rill
How sweet the lily grows!
How sweet the breath, beneath the hill,
Of Sharon’s dewy rose!

2. Lo! Such the child whose early feet
The paths of peace have trod,
Whose secret heart with influence sweet
Is upward drawn to God.

3. By cool Siloam’s shady rill
The lily must decay,
The rose that blooms beneath the hill
Must shortly fade away.

4. O Thou whose infant feet were found
Within Thy Father’s shrine,
Whose years, with changeless virtue crowned,
Were all alike divine;

5. Dependent on Thy bounteous breath,
We seek Thy grace alone,
In childhood, manhood, age, and death,
To keep us still Thine own.

Amen.
