ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER

Memory Verse: Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging the one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25, NIV

Text: Hebrews 10:19-25

Hebrews 10:19-25 NIV
[19] Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,

[20] by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,

[21] and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

[22] let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

[23] Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. [24] And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,

[25] not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

A Bible study teacher felt led to share her testimony on how she eventually won a scholarship after multiple rejections, during her Bible study class in church. Her testimony encouraged a member to put in for a scholarship which he had been reluctant to apply for because of previous rejections. He applied by faith and got the scholarship. Today’s passage encourages believers to draw near to God with full assurance of faith and a pure heart. It also states that we must not forsake the gathering of believers, but rather see it as an avenue to encourage one another unto good works as we patiently await the end. It is very crucial not to forsake the gathering of the brethren.

Our gathering serves as a means of encouraging ourselves through God’s Word. The Church must be a place where believers are nurtured to fulfil their purpose and become a blessing to others. The church must be concerned about the wellbeing of every member. We must not neglect people around us who may need our encouragement. In what ways have you encouraged members of your church in the past? Pray to God to show you someone who needs encouragement in your church today.
