TOPIC: PRACTISING THE MODEL PRAYER
MEMORISE: In this manner, therefore, pray: Our father in heaven, Hallowed be your name (Matthew 6:9).
READ : Matthew 6:9-15
[9]. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
[10]. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
[11]. Give us this day our daily bread.
[12]. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
[13]. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
[14]. “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
[15]. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
EXPOSITION
The model prayer popularly known as the Lord’s Prayer is a guideline given by the Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, as a pattern of how we should offer our daily prayers and live it practically. In fact, we are to make it our lifestyles. The Lord’s Prayer is more effective when we live by it everyday of our lives. As a disciple of Jesus, you are to start your daily prayer by recognising God as your heavenly Father worshipping Him for who He is, and giving Him the honour that is due Him (Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name). You are to invite God intentionally into every situation of your life (Your kingdom come). You are to seek for His will daily in everything you do (Your will be done). You are to ask for His daily provisions in your daily prayer (Give us this day our daily bread). You must always be ready to forgive your offenders and ask for His own forgiveness (And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors). You are to ask Him to lead you in the right path (And do not lead us into temptations). Ask God to deliver you from the plans of the devil (But deliver us from the evil one).
Finally, you are to round up your prayers by confessing Who God is, praising and thanking Him in anticipation for answering your prayers (For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Father, teach me daily, how to communicate with You.
2. Father, grant me the grace to always say the ideal type of prayer on daily basis.
3. Pray for CAC Babalola Memorial International Miracle Comp Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, the Camp Manager and the staff as led by the Spirit of God.
