TOPIC: JEHOVAH JIREH IS MY GOD

TEXT: GENESIS 22:6-14

MEMORY VERSE: “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together” (GENESIS 22:8).

Jehovah-Jireh means God who provides. He provided for man’s needs, as recorded in the first chapter of the book of Genesis, even before he was created. God ensures that His creatures do not lack anything needful. Considering this, the writer of the hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness, declared in the refrain thus: “Great is Thy faithfulness!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies see

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!” Have you considered the fact that the people of Israel traveled from Egypt to the land of Canaan for forty years and they did neither sow nor reap? God provided for them food and water during those years, and they were not sick; none was feeble among them. Praise God!

When Abraham answered his son, Isaac that God would provide Himself a lamb for the sacrifice, Isaac did not argue. Abraham also believed in what he had said by faith. God honoured their faith and provided the lamb at the right time. Can you recall some ways that God has provided for you, your family or other members of your Church? He can do it again no matter what the need may be.

QUOTE: God honoured their faith and provided

CHALLENGE: God sent a bird and a poor widow to feed Elijah in famine.

PRAYER: Holy Father, provide for me and my family always, in Jesus’ name.
