Editorial policy

People make expensive, life-changing decisions based on immigration and financial information. This policy explains how we try to make every Borderwise guide accurate, useful and honest.

Sourcing

We build every guide from primary sources wherever possible: government websites, official forms and instructions, legislation, and published guidance from bodies such as USCIS, the US Department of State, IRCC, UK Visas and Immigration and the European Commission. We use news reports and expert commentary only for context, and we say so when we do. The main sources for each guide are listed at the end of the article.

Accuracy and fact-checking

Before a guide is published, an editor checks its factual claims (eligibility rules, fees, deadlines, processing times and form names) against the official source. Where a rule is uncertain, disputed or under consultation, we say so clearly rather than guess.

Dates and updates

Every guide shows the date it was first published. When we make a substantive change, such as a new fee, a changed requirement or a new route, we update the guide and show an "Updated" date. We review our most-read guides regularly, and we prioritise updates when governments announce changes.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly. We correct factual errors as soon as they are verified and update the page date. To report an error, contact us with the page link and, ideally, a link to the official source.

Independence from advertisers

Borderwise is funded by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or what we write, and they never see articles before publication. Ads are served automatically by Google and its partners and are labelled "Advertisement". If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored. Use of AI tools

We may use AI tools to help with research, outlining and drafting. AI output is never published unchecked: an editor verifies facts against official sources, edits for clarity and takes responsibility for every guide we publish.
