THE SENSELESS RISK

Read: Ecclesiastes 12:1-7

Ecclesiastes 12:1-7 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”

before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain;

when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim;

when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint;

when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then people go to their eternal home and mourners go about the streets.

Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well,

and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

MEMORISE:

And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

EXPOSITION

Risk is likelihood of a negative outcome, the potential negative impact of an event. It is expected of man to take certain risk because not all risks are bad, some are good, others are highly dangerous, there are senseless risks.

Risk is unavoidable to man. We must take risk if there is going to be a head way in life. Great men and women around the world take risks every day. These risks have lunched thousand and one greatness while thousands more are made poor of the risk they took.

One major senseless risk is to gamble with out lives. Life has no duplicate; therefore, it can’t be replaced. There is no second chance the moment man is dead. The life of sin is not secured in Christ and it’s a dangerous and senseless risk. The rich man in Luke 16:19-31 took this senseless risk and the result was to devastating. There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire. “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us. “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’_* He would have loved to imaging it than experiencing it. It was too late by the time he realised it was a senseless risk.

Bible admonishes us to remember our creator now-today, this moment. Eccl. 12:6-7 Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. A life centered on God is fulfilling and richer. Don’t allo…
