TOPIC: HIS TOUCH
Read Luke 13:10-17
[10]And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
[11]And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
[12]And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
[13]And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
[14]And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
[15]The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
[16]And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
[17]And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
MEMORISE: And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” (Mark 5:30)
EXPOSITION
There were many instances in the Bible where Christ Jesus touched people, and His touch made a definite and significant impact in their lives. It is the love of Christ Himself, spontaneous, instinctive, without the thought of anything but the suffering that it sees which gushes out and leads Him to put forth His hand to the outcast beggars, the blind, the deaf, and the lepers.
In Mark 5:25-29, this woman had a constant issue of blood, for twelve years, that had defied the expertise of the best physicians that she could get; they gave her up as incurable. She wished for a private attention, came in the crowd behind Jesus, and touched His garment, and immediately, she got total healing. The virtue from Christ released to anyone He touches healed this woman as she chose to touch Jesus herself. Jesus repeated this passion of touching in other place (Lk. 7:11-15, 4:30).
Today’s text talks about the miraculous cure of a woman that had been long under a spirit of infirmity for 18 years, which was such that she was bowed together, and could in no wise, lift up herself. When Jesus saw her in the synagogue, that Sabbath, He called her to Himself, laid His hand on her, and she was immediately made straight.
So many people are long under the spirit of infirmity or bondage. Be it physical or spiritual; the power of Christ’s touch is still available today to heal every soul (Heb. 13:8), even as the issue of mental health is being attended to globally, today. As the event of the cure upon the soul of that woman made her glorify God, so shall it be unto you as you are touched by His mighty hands, today. JUST BELIEVE!
PRAYER POINTS
1. Father, I thank You for Your healing power that is still made available today.
2. Lord Jesus, as You did then, touch me today, heal my infirmities (mention them) and make me whole.
3. Pray for those who are on sick bed, be it in their houses, or in hospitals, that they shall be healed, in Jesus’ name.
