Read: Luke 7:11-15

Luke 7:11-15 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away (Revelation 21:4)

Weeping is the shedding of tears in response to an emotional state, or pain. It happens when the cup of our emotion runs over. It is part of what it means to be human and it is as a result of sorrow of heart.

There are so many things that can cause one to weep: broken relationship/marriage or unbelieving spouse, poverty, famine, peril or persecution, slander, pains (physical pains in the heart), fear of the unknown, rejection, humiliation, loneliness – no shoulder to lean on, illness, bitterness of heart bereavement, wayward children, failure and disappointment, lack in every area, etc. It is not a sin for you to weep when faced with life torment.

Our textual source presents one of the miracles of Jesus Christ when He was on earth. This miracle was done at the gate of a small city, or town called Nain.

The woman was weeping because the young man that died was her only son as she was a widow, she depended upon her son to be the staff of her old age but he proves a broken reed, all her hope was lost.

Christ Jesus intervened as He showed both His pity and power in raising him to life. Christ was troubled for her as her case was piteous, and He said to her, ‘Weep no more!’ Christ not only said weep not, He also gave her reason for it which no one else could. When God says stop weeping, it is because He has made up His mind to remove that which is causing you sorrow.

Christ is saying the same to you dear reader, He says WEEP NO MORE! Call upon Him, tell Him exactly how you feel, He knows and feels your pains and He is so compassionate towards you. Heb. 4:15.

Even if there are tears that are not wiped away here on earth as this life, it is full of ups and downs, ultimately, they will be wiped away when we all be with Christ who with His own with His own kind hand shall wipe away the tears of His children. BE RAPTURABLE!

1. Father, wipe away the tears of your children today, show compassion unto every one going through pains.

2. Pray that God will send His power of healing to those who are ill anywhere they may be.

3. Pray that God’s grace will be sufficient unto you to carry you through so as to make heaven at last.
