December 16, 2020 Spirit Meat Devotional : Topic – HOW TO MAXIMIZE MARITAL JOINING II – Matthew 19:6

You must have a clear understanding that God did not put you in a partnership but joining. That is why the bible says, “Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” (Matthew 19:6). Move away from the partnership system and enter into joining. God designed marriage to be a joining, and it requires 0:100 and 100:0 on either side and not 50:50. It is not negotiable neither is it a discussion.
There must not and cannot be compromise in marriage scripturally; there can only be agreement. And for agreement to take place, there must be headship and submission, and one single vision. Unity is built around vision and agreement. However, disunity is built around di-vision, and lack of submission is what brings di-vision.
Lack of submission is what makes you hold on to your vision. You cannot have two visions in marriage. Vision means direction. If you hold on to your vision, it means each person will go in a different direction. A family can’t go in two different directions; the children cannot be raised in two different ways and values. Even if you are a Hausa woman and your husband is an Igbo man, there must be an agreement on how you will raise your children because you can’t raise them in both Hausa and Igbo ways. There must be a direction.
Whoever is setting the family vision is very crucial. A man that submits his headship and a woman that walks in lack of submission have both signed a covenant with premature death.
PRAYER: Lord, I choose to move away from the partnership system in my marriage. Help me to walk in agreement and right joining in Jesus’ name.
