GOD SEARCHES FOR YOU

Read: Genesis 3:8-13

Genesis 3:8-13 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

But the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you?

He said, I heard the sound of You [walking] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.

And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?

And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me—she gave me [fruit] from the tree, and I ate.

And the Lord God said to the woman, What is this you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled (cheated, outwitted, and deceived) me, and I ate.

MEMORISE:

But the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you? (Gen. 3:9).

EXPOSITION

One of the major occasions in which God asked man  questions. is Gen. 3:9. God is asking you, in particular, a similar question, today. When  questions like this come your way, do you take time to ask what God has in mind for you in them? It could be to just confirm that you are in your prosper position or location, or to know your point of relocation or dislocation.

Instead of Adam to own up to his irresponsibility as the man and head of the  house, he engaged in bulky-passing. That is the situation with many Christians, today. When they are caught on the wrong side, they blame the devil. It is easy for so many leaders to shift the  blame when they fail in any of their responsibilities. Can you imagine King Saul, when God confronted him with the reality of his disobedience, through  Samuel, saying that his servants, and not himself, those he was expected to lead aright, took of the  plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal (1 Sam. 15:17-21)? Can anyone be hidden from God. Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence. If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol (the place of the dead), behold, You are there. (Psa. 139:7-8).

Where are you spiritually, in your career, in your life  pursuit? Are you making progress, or  stagnated? Has the quality of your life, spiritually and otherwise, improved over the years? Has the quality of your prayer  changed? Are you adding value to the lives of those around you? God is asking where you are in terms of relationship with Him and others. Don’t try to cover the reality. Own up to it, and see how He would help you overcome and take over.

Today, re-examine and grade the entire fabric of your life. Have you really been doing well in the Lord? If you have fallen short, like Adam and Eve, retrace your steps back to Him. God is asking you. Where are you? Stop hiding from Him. He knows your situation, and is the only One to help you out.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Confirm you true spiritual and moral condition to the Lord, now and ask of His grace to overcome the moral and spiritual flaw bedevilling you.

2. Lord, help me never to deceive myself as to what is going on inside of him, so that I can always courageously approach Your holy Presence for help in times of need.

3. Pray for missionaries who have gone on A.W.O.L. because of the situation around  them, that God should restore them fully.
