January 9, 2021 Spirit Meat Devotional : Topic – THE IDOL IN YOUR HEART – Ezekiel 14:1-9

Nowadays, you see many that have taken their lives from the Holy Ghost. Sometimes you don’t know the difference between a Christian and an unbeliever in their cravings after things in the world. But Christians are supposed to listen to God’s counsel. We are a people with a leader. Don’t follow people who are following their brains and their intelligence.
Some people go to God saying, “Oh God, talk to me”, but God will reply, “You are deceiving yourself, you can’t deceive Me”. In our text, the idol Ezekiel speaks of here is not a shrine, but the idol of your personal opinion. They have already planned what they’re going to do. If you’re ever going to get God to talk to you, tell God what is in your heart already.
It is better for you to say, “Lord, this is what I want to do. This is what I’m thinking; I want you to guide me.” You see, trying to say there’s nothing in your heart is like the little child that goes to his father with biscuits and the father says give me that biscuit and he hides the biscuit on top of his head, and responds to his father, “I can’t give you.”
You must understand that God is looking straight into your heart. He knows exactly what you’re thinking. He knows the decisions you’ve made in your heart regardless of what anybody says. If you’re going to get divine direction from the Lord, it is better for you to come plain with what is in your heart already.
PRAYER: Lord, search me, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Amen!
