A SPIDER WEB LIKE A BRICK WALL
Read: Psalm 121:1-8
Psalm 121:1-8 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
MEMORISE:
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
(Psalms 121:5).
EXPOSITION
Naturally, some situations, being dire, can make one think negatively. An anonymous reporter once documented something we can learn from in today’s devotional piece. During the second World War, a US marine officer had lost contact with his fellows when the battle had become fierce! He manage to escape to an open valley, where he sighted enemy soldiers advancing in his direction! Out of fear, he quickly ran into one of the caves in the valley. He, being a Christian prayed for God’s protection inside the caves. Worse still, he heard the soldiers coming near and they started checking through the caves! He had thought he would be discovered and killed when he suddenly saw a spider spreading its web round the entry of the cave. He said “God I did not ask for a spider web as protection but a brick wall…!”
While this despondent situation lasted the enemy soldiers reached go his cave as he could see them from within. They thought “… this cave could not have had anybody in it for months because there are cob webs all over!” so, they left and the officer was safe. He was expecting a brick wall as defense and protector, but God sent a spider web!
What a God! He is unlimited and His ways are incomprehensible (Isa.44:6-8). In what ‘cave’ of life are you? God has never forgotten you. Your imagined way of escape and victory may absolutely be at variance with God’s. Cast your total trust and confidence on God alone. Who never forgets you, even when the whole world seems to forget you? Stay lifted.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, my eyes to see Your work over my life, in Jesus name.
2. God help the believers to appreciate the fact that come what may, You are in charge, working out Your programmes, in Your Own unreachable way.
3. Lord, rise in Your might and power and silence Your enemies in the Law.
