That The Scripture Must be Fulfilled.
UNIT I: THE SCRIPTURE ARE GIVEN.
July 28, 2019.
II. MAN’S NON-NEGOTIABLE RESTORATION (Genesis 3:14,15,20-24; Mat. 25:34; John 12:31,33; Revelation 13:8; 17:8)
On several occasions, people, nations, business partners, associations wouldn’t get something settled or done, until they come to negotiation table. In the case of man’s restoration, no negotiation is needed or required. Who would God negotiate man’s redemption with? Satan? That would be an insult of the highest order. So, your restoration was non-negotiable.
A. MAN’S ENEMY WILL BE CRUSHED
And I will put enmity between you and and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” (Gen. 3:15).
i. Devil has been an enemy since the foundation of the world. He lost the privileges and enviable position given to him, so he expect every creatures to be losers.
ii. Satan(Devil) went through the serpent to deceive man and was found out and consequently judged. His head was to be bruised (Gen. 3:15). Henceforth, serpent was to keep crawling forever. It was the Scripture that revealed this secret and also revealed the unstoppable judgment (Jn. 12:30,31; Col. 2:15).
iii. The devil and his agents have been progressively disgraced. Out of the 10 plagues inflicted on the Egyptians, the agents of Pharaoh could not go beyond repeating the third (Ex. 8:18,19). The agents of Ahab suffered an irreparable defeat on Mt. Carmel (I Kg. 18:20-40).
iv. After he had failed on Jesus, he was rebuked and left Jesus for a while (Mt. 4:10,11), but was also rebuked as he operated through Peter (Mt. 16:23; Lk. 8:33).
v. It is surprising to always ear people giving credence to the devil today. They say “he is powerful but lacks salvation”. Is that true? Anyway, don’t overrate the devil and don’t underrate him. His destiny has been determined in the Scripture —- lake of fire.
B. MAN WILL BE RESTORED (Gen. 3:21; Luke 19:10; Revelation 13:8)
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross (Col. 1:19-20).
i. Unheeded instruction led to disobedience in the Garden of Eden which exposed man to unpalatable experiences. However almost immediately, in the midst of judgement the Scriptures followed (Gen. 3:15).
ii. God immediately took steps to clothe man which needed “blood shedding” —- a type of what would be done generally for mankind (Gen. 3:21). The role of the blood here cannot be overemphasized.
iii. Man can neither be lost nor separated forever. Jesus, in the Scripture, is referred to as a Lamb, slain before the foundation of the World (Rev. 13:8). John the Baptist confirmed this as he revealed the Saviour of the world (Jn. 1:29). Again, by His blood, we are saved and made to come nearer to God (Eph. 2:11-13; Col. 1:19).
iv. Final restoration has been revealed in the Scriptures. Right now, we are seated with Jesus Christ in the Scripture. Are you ready?
v. Your restoration is paramount to God. You are an apple of His eyes. You are a royal priest and special people. God can’t allow you to be totally lost the hand of the enemy of your soul (1 Pet. 2:8-10, Rev. 1:6).
LESSON DERIVED
1. The Scripture says in advance what would be experienced by Satan —- progressive disgrace, defeat and final destiny (Gen. 3:15; Rev. 20:10).
2. The Scripture also reveals what would happen progressively to man —- restoration, redemption and being with God forever and ever (Jn. 14:3; 17:24).
QUESTIONS
1. Satan has been an unknown enemy before the foundation of the world and even now (after his defeat by Jesus Christ), should he be underrated?
2. The blood, the blood of Jesus Christ has been given for us. It is perfect, full and final. Why do people still sacrifice today? (1 Cor. 10:19,20).
SUGGESTED ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
ANSWER TO QUESTION 1
* No, there is no reason to underrate the Devil. Neither should he be overrated. Anyone that does that did it to his own destruction.
* We are not without full information about who the devil is to God and us. He is a permanent enemy: once an enemy is always an enemy.
* He became enemy of God and man the day he plotted against God and His eternal agenda. He further proved his personality the day he visited man in the Garden and subtly made Eve to accept the forbidden fruit against God’s ordinance (Genesis 3:1ff; Rev. 12:7-9).
* Beware of him, he can disguise as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:13-15). He is a deceiver and liar by nature (John 8:44). He is laying some traps for believers to make them fall and share is his fate. He would not get you.
* No where on the page of the scripture, are we encouraged to be his friend. Rather, the scripture warns us to resist, rebuke and fight the devil (James 4:7; Eph. 4:27).
* The scripture calls him our enemy (Adversary) 1 Pet. 5:8. He can never change.
* Admonition: Don’t underrate him, or give him any foothold. Resist him and he shall flee from you. At the same time don’t overrate him, he had been permanently defeated.
ANSWER TO QUESTION 2
Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.
We now have the blood of Jesus and has fully paid for our sins, once and for all.
Therefore, no other sacrifice for sin is necessary.
What then is the problem of those who are still sacrificing?
* Ignorance.
* Lack of faith in Jesus and His work.
* Low knowledge of the scripture.
* They don’t know the power of the blood (Exodus 12)
* They do not know about God’s justification (Rom. 5:1; 8:1)
* Some can’t imagine someone dying once and paying for sin ms of everyone at once. They don’t know the work of God.
* Guilt: Another factor is guilt. Some people are so guilty that they just must atone personally for their error, regardless of what Jesus had come to do for them. This also borne out of ignorance.
Admonition: Come out of all these today, and enjoy the provision of God in and through the blood of Jesus Christ.
LIFE APPLICATION
It is important to know the scripture and apply it to out lives on daily basis. It is until then we can begin to appreciate the plan of God for man’s redemption now, and in the future. The Scripture would help us to know the precarious condition, the devil man’s enemy, put man when he subtly made him to go contrary to God. Also, we would be assisted to know how God in His love and mercy freed man from devil’s snare. God permanently, contrary to devil’s intention, put man back into perfect relationship and fellowship with Himself, now and eternally and ultimately become redeemed of God in His eternal kingdom. Use the scripture and fulfil it positively. It is your anchor.
CONCLUSION
We have come to the end of the first lesson in this series of Sunday school. We have been able to see the place of man’s redemption in God’s heart. We have seen hod God eternally provided for man’s restoration. We have also been able to see how God dealt with enemy of man, Satan, and the sacrifice, which was once and for all offered in full for man’s ransom. Jesus is the sacrifice in anticipation for your redemption, you don’t have to fail Him.
