TOPIC: PEACE FOR THE PERFECT

TEXT:PSALM 37:30-39

MEMORY VERSE: “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace” (PSALM 37:37).

John Dryden (1631 – 1700) English poet, playwright, and literary critic once declared:

“How blessed is he, who leads a country life,

Unvex’d with anxious cares, and void of strife!

Who studying peace, and shunning civil rage,

Enjoy’d his youth, and now enjoys his age:

All who deserve his love, he makes his own;

And, to be lov’d himself, needs only to be known”.

Inner peace is a desirable scarce commodity worldwide. This is a state of unearthly tranquillity made possible by a consistent walk with God. For example, Abraham, Job, Joseph and David had this peace. Walking with God and perfection earn peace. “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect” (Genesis 17:1).

To be perfect, you must accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Then, prayer and praise will become habitual; no anxiety, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

QUOTE: Walking with God and perfection earn peace.

CHALLENGE: Maintain a consistent walk with God, whatever happens.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to be perfect and peaceful.
