WARRIOR OR ENTERTAINER?

Read Judges 16:1-25

MEMORISE: Therefore let, him who thinks he stands take heee lest he fall (1 Corinthians 10:12)

EXPOSITION

A warrior is a brave or experience soldier or fighter, while an entertainer is someone who amuses others. In the Kingdom business, we are called to warfare against the forces of our arch-enemy (Eph. 6:10). God commissioned Samson even before his conception. He chose him as a Nazarite to Himself, a deliverer of His People, and deposited in him all he needed to succeed. He began to deviate from God’s original purpose when he began to do things in his own way, yoking himself with the sworn enemies of God. He was trapped and ruined by his familiarity with Delilah, the harlot. Pitiably, the enemies of God which he was empowered to defeat preyed on the powerful but complacent Samson. Ah! A God-ordained Nazareth and  warrior became an entertainer to God’s sworn because of disobedience.

Who are you in Christ? A warrior or entertainer? How do you handle the task committed to you as a minister, worker, leader, etc. Doing it to impress others, and merchandising your God-given gift and calling? As a Pastor, hope you have not left the altar into the hands of members overseeing the tables of food, finances, and festivals (Acts 6:1-4) it is saddening today that a lot of people who are hungry for the Word of God come to church and go back home starving, because the preaching of the Word is given  low priority compared to the ‘irrelevances’ making the service a  social gathering.

How are you fairing in your line of duty? (Rev. 2:5). Be a warrior and not an entertainer in the kingdom business.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, I refuse to deviate from Your original plan and purpose for my life.

2.  Father, restore as many ministers as have deviated from their God -given tasks to embrace irrelevances.

3. Pray that the fire of the Gospel of Christ will not quench in our churches and lives.

EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: I Samuel 14:44 – 16:20; Luke 19:10 – 19:31.
