WHO “DASH” MONKEY BANANA? (II)
READ LUKE 12V16-20
16 KJV:And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17 KJV:And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18 KJV:And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

19 KJV:And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

20 KJV:But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

Memorise: KJV:And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
(Luke 12v19)

Exposition
Isn’t it a mystery that the banana tree is the only tree impossible for the monkey to climb? Yet, on it lies it’s favourites delicacy, as we have seen in yesterday’s devotion. The first reason why the monkey could not climb the banana tree was because the banana tree has a slippery stem that makes it impossible for the monkey to grip or hold unto. In addition, it has very weak branches, so weak that the monkey could not stand, or even lean on. It it tries to hold on to any of the branches, it falls off, and the monkey finds itself on the ground. Considering these two factors, it is impossible for the monkey to get the banana on top of the tree by itself.

The rich man became boastful and self-sufficient, so much that he did not even recognise or acknowledge God’s grace for having such possession. He praised himself; “self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made…” (MSG), as if he got everything without God (cf.Deut.8v18a).
Apart from the rich man’s failure to acknowledge God, he also failed to include the needy, widows, orphans, unemployed/under-employed, naked, and hungry in his plan. All his focus was soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; drink and be merry. God’s blessings in our lives are not for our consumption alone. We are blessed to bless others around us (Gen.12v2). Why than would you not also bless others with the same blessings you got from God? Those blessings in your possession did not come back we of your hand work.

There are many more hardworking and diligent people around who have nothing, or veey little to show for their efforts. Therefore, you are only privileged by God. Never think that others are lazy or less important, just because you have received something they haven’t yet received. The bottom line: If you have received a blessing from God, glorify Him, and bless humanity with it!

Prayer points
1. Lord, I thank You for the blessings You have bestowed upon me by Your grace, which I could not have got by my efforts.
2. Lord, I choose to be a blessings to my world and generation; I seize to hoard Your blessings from others, henceforth.
3. Pray for CAC Anosike Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and it’s officers at the various levels, as led by the spirit of God.
