PARTNERS IN GOD’S BUSINESS

Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 3:8-11
Memory Verse: “The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labour.” 1 Corinthians 3:8, NIV
A rich American prepared to establish a company in the country of Indonesia and needed a manager. A certain missionary was recommended to him because he knew the language and culture of the people. The company offered him a good salary, but the missionary declined, saying, “The salary is big enough, but the job isn’t big enough to be compared to partnering with God.”
The Church in Corinth was seriously divided by the carnal believers over a trivial matter. Little wonder, Paul strongly affirms the unity of the ministries of himself and Apollos. Teamwork in the power of the Holy Spirit, is the first principle emphasised here. Both he who plants and he who waters are equal in God’s eyes and they are to be rewarded accordingly. As the missionary in the above story noted, nothing can be compared to partnering with God and the rewards promised.
Being one of the partners in God’s business, you must be more focused than a builder trying to comply with regulations, for our partnership in God’s business has eternal significance and rewards for faithful completion.
Insight: All believers have a part in God’s church to cooperatively build it together.
Prayer: LORD, help me to faithfully discharge my duty in building your Church.
