TOPIC: PRACTICE THE WORD
‘Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.’ Matthew 7:24, NIV
Your heart is drawn towards that which you treasure, and whatsoever you treasure becomes your spiritual center of gravity. When a person makes things such as pleasure, power, or money his center of gravity, he is indeed miserable because such things are vain and temporal.
The parable of the wise and foolish builder illustrates the absolute necessity of practicing what God has instructed in His Word. Hearing and practicing God’s Word brings security, stability, and durability, while ignoring it is a call for total spiritual disaster, and a path of foolishness. There is a clear assurance of deliverance from Jesus to those who anchor their lives in obedience to God’s Word when all men will face God’s ultimate judgment.
God’s Word as our spiritual center of gravity shapes the core of who we are by forming our values, convictions, and beliefs and influence every aspect of our lives. God’s Word is what gives us the right balance to withstand the storms of life. Are your feet sifting through sand, or are they firmly standing upon the Rock? God’s Word is a firm foundation to anchor your life.
Insight: The Word of God is the most dependable center of gravity to anchor your life.
Prayer: From this day, I commit myself to anchor my life on Your Word in obedience.
