TOPIC: OVERCOMING THE VIOLENT WINDS OF LIFE

And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock (Matthew 7:25).

[24]. “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
[25]. and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
[26]. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
[27]. and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
[28]. And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching,
[29]. for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
EXPOSITION
Wind is the natural, consistent movement of air at varying speeds, making its presence evident to all things and bodies — a powerful force, sometimes taking on a contrary nature when combined with other elements to create a storm. It manifests in different forms — the gentle breeze that provides a soothing feeling of natural air and the strong winds, producing a noisy, whistling sound as air rushes past. Wind’s impact is most noticeable in the realm of the sea, where it influences the motion of waves. Also, its effects can be seen through nature’s violent reactions, such as swaying, bending, and uprooting trees, leaves and unripe fruits falling, buildings shaking, and roofs being torn away — this is the storm, a violent atmospheric disturbance.
Similarly, life is affected not only by regular natural events but also by the strong winds of both natural and unnatural situations. Our Lord Jesus emphasised this during His earthly teaching ministry, speaking of winds in plural terms, signifying various forms. Certain forces always act upon and shape life’s situations. To navigate these issues, you must prepare for them, address them, and conquer them with a profound understanding and application of God’s Word. So, “Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?” You can confidently say, “YES!” For “We have an anchor that keeps the soul, steadfast and sure when the billows roll: Fasten to the Rock which cannot move, Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love” (CAC GHB 999). Shalom. Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank God for the sure anchor you have in Jesus Christ, the eternal Rock of Ages.
2. Pray for divine protection against every contrary and violent wind of life.
3. Pray for CAC Babalola Memorial International Miracle Camp, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, the Camp Manager and the staff as led by the Spirit of God.
