TOPIC: SECRETS OF ABRAHAM’S BLESSINGS
MEMORISE: Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver and in gold (Genesis 13:2).

[1]. Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South.

[3]. And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
[4]. to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
[5]. Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents.
[6]. Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together.
EXPOSITION
God is the living God Who outlived all the patriarchs of ancient Israel (cf. Exo. 3:6). Abraham’s blessings were transferred to Isaac and his posterity. God is still blessing His own today, just as He did with Abraham. Abraham didn’t become rich through dishonest means, but rather through God’s blessings and guidance. You too can receive blessings without resorting to deceitful tactics that are prevalent in society today. What strategies did Abraham use to receive God’s blessings?
Firstly, Abraham was obedient to God (Gen. 12:1ff). Your place of residence can determine your poverty or blessings. If you are not living where God has ordained for you, move out now! Secondly, he communed with God; built altars for God and prayed to Him (Gen. 12:7; 13:4,18). Altars symbolise spiritual connection with God. He also paid his tithes (Gen. 14:18-20) according to the commandment of God. Start paying yours wholly, henceforth. Thirdly, he wasn’t afraid of anything but feared the LORD (Gen. 15:1, cf. Prov. 3:8). Finally, he wasn’t lazy (cf. Prov. 22:29), as today marks Lazy Day, National Bowling Day, World Biofuel Day & World Lion Day.
He reared livestock and cultivated crops. He even dug wells and gave them to Isaac (Gen. 26:15). Learn from Abraham; invest in what you want God to bless you with.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, open my eyes to the secrets of my blessings.
2. Father, bless my career, vocation and business, and make them great.
3. God, please open the eyes of job-seekers to the job opportunities within them and grant them the grace to begin something meaningful with determination.
