LESSON FORTY SIX (46)
TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF AN UNGRATEFUL HEART 1: REJECTION
BIBLE STUDY: 1 SAMUEL 15:22-33
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 51:11- “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.”
LESSON AIM: To teach the teenagers that an ungrateful heart can lead to rejection.
CENTRAL TRUTH: When you don’t thank God for who He is, and what He is doing for you, there are consequences to face, of which one is rejection.
Opening Question: Have you ever experienced rejection? If so, how did you deal with it?
INTRODUCTION: Rejection is when someone or something has not been accepted or has been refused, while ingratitude is a lack of proper appreciation of someone or something. When you return evil for good, it is ingratitude. In our text we read the story of the king that was rejected by God. Rejection is more painful when one who is expecting love receives it.

LIFE APPLICATION: We can be ungrateful to God when we do nouh acknowledge and thank Him for His goodness towards us. When this
happens, it can lead to God rejecting us.
CONCLUSION: No pleasant fragrance comes forth from someone wh ungrateful. Such a person would just be repelling good things. An ungrateful person is not pleasant to be with.
LESSON FORTY SEVEN (47)
TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF AN UNGRATEFUL HEART 2: UNFRUITFULNESS
BIBLE TEXT: 2 Samuel 6:14-23
MEMORY VERSE: John 15:6- “If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered, and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”
LESSON AIM: To let the teenagers know that one of the dangers of an ungrateful heart is unfruitfulness.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Avoid being unfruitful by always being grateful to God
INTRODUCTION: Our text today is about a woman called Michal – the daughter of Saul. Michal was David’s wife. When the ark of God was brought into the city of David and David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, the Bible recorded that when Michal saw him, she despised him in her heart and even expressed this to David (Vs 20). As a result, Michal had no children to the day of her death. To despise someone is a sign of ingratitude, being unappreciative of him or her. In this situation, while David was showing gratitude, Michal was displaying ingratitude.
STUDY GUIDE:
A. INGRATITUDE CAN LEAD TO UNFRUITFULNESS IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF ONE’S LIFE
* Spiritual unfruitfulness: not bearing the fruits of the Spirit as found in Gal 5:22.
* Financial unfruitfulness – Matthew 25:14-30. The servant given one talent did not appreciate it and it was taken away from him.
* Emotional unfruitfulness. Our minds cannot be productive when filled with ingratitude – Matthew 25:14-30.
* Physical unfruitfulness – 2 Samuel 6:23.

B. TO AVOID BEING UNFRUITFUL, BE GRATEFULAND DO THE FOLLOWING:
* Read and meditate on God’s Word daily – Matt 13:22.
* Abide in the Vine – John 15:6.
* Have no fellowship with darkness – Eph 5:11.
• Devote yourself to doing good -Titus 3:14.
* Pay your tithe and offerings regularly and correctly – Mal 3:11
* 2 Pet 1:5-8
CLASS ACTIVITY: Discuss how ingratitude can lead to academica unfruitfulness.
CONCLUSION: To be fruitful is to be blessed and be a blessing to people. a state of being very productive. God wants us to be fruitful and anything contrary to this will be against God’s will for our lives.
LESSON FORTY EIGHT(48)
TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF AN UNGRATEFUL HEART 3: DESTRUCTION (LOSS OF BLESSINGS, PHYSICAL WELL BEING)
BIBLE TEXT: Numbers 14:1-38
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 16:18 – “Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty Spirit before a fall.”
LESSON AIM: To teach the teenagers that an ungrateful heart can cause destruction.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Having an ungrateful heart is not good. It carries punishments. Opening question: How can ingratitude lead to unfruitfulness?
INTRODUCTION: The truth about life is that one can lose his or her blessings and become physically unwell. From our text, the children of Israel were happy to leave Egypt, to be delivered from slavery but they soon forgot this and grumbled against God. Their act of ingratitude (grumbling and murmuring) led to them losing their blessings.
STUDY GUIDE:
WHAT DID THE ISRAELITES DO TO BE UNGRATEFUL TO GOD?
* They quickly forgot what God had done for them – Num 14:11.
* They grumbled and murmured – Vs 2.
* They suddenly preferred Egypt.
* They did not believe in Moses and Aaron – their prophets.
* They doubted God’s power and promise and queried their deliverance – Vs 3.
* They allowed the devil to magnify their problem above God’s ability.
* They treated God with contempt – Vs 11.
* They talked about stoning Moses and Aaron.
GOD’S JUDGEMENT OF DESTRUCTION FOR THE UNGRATEFUL HEARTS OF THE ISRAELITES
* Those that murmured against God died in the wilderness – Vs 29.
* They lost out in the promised land – Vs 30.
* Their children wandered in the wilderness for 40 years – Vs 33-34.
* They mourned greatly – Verse 39.
LESSONS TO LEARN
* We should be grateful to God for whatever good He does for us.
* We should run away from sin and avoid God’s anger.
* When we praise God, we make Him happy.
CLASS ACTIVITY: Discuss what lessons we can learn from the story.
CONCLUSION: Ingratitude can be toxic; it is like a plague, an emotional disease that can affect one’s wellbeing and eat away one’s joy. Being grateful on the other hand, can improve our physical and psychological health.
LESSON FORTY NINE (49)
TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF AN UNGRATEFUL HEART: ETERNITY IN HELL.
BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 27:1-8
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 6:9 – “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?”
LESSON AIM: To teach the teenagers that an ungrateful heart may end up in hell fire.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Hell is real! Without Jesus, hell is sure!
OPENING QUESTION: How can ingratitude lead to a loss of blessings?
INTRODUCTION: Ingratitude can lead one to hell fire. You may wonder how. We see this play out in the life of Judas Iscariot. Rather than being grateful for knowing Jesus, counting it a privilege to be chosen as one of His disciples, he became ungrateful and sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.
STUDY GUIDE:
* LESSONS TO LEARN FROM JUDAS
After betraying Jesus, Judas saw that the chief priest had Jesus bound and he was filled with remorse. Ingratitude leads to remorse.
* He returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. Ingratitude leads to loss..
* The money was rejected. Ingratitude leads to rejection.
* He confessed he had sinned. Ingratitude leads to sin.
* He threw the money into the temple and left. Ingratitude leads to a separation from God.
* He committed suicide. Ingratitude leads to spiritual death.
* HOW CAN INGRATITUDE LEAD ONE TO HELL FIRE?
* Ingratitude is a work of the flesh – Gal 5:19
* It is unbelief – John 3:16.
* It is a seed sown to one’s own flesh – Gal 6:7-8.
* It is unrighteousness – 1 Cor 6:9-10.
* An ungrateful person is usually not content and lack of contentment a sin.
* An ungrateful person will always grumble and murmur. Murmuring is a sin.
* An ungrateful person will lie and steal from others.
CLASS ACTIVITY: List the people who will go to hell as mentioned in Rev 21:8: …………………….
LIFE APPLICATION: What are those things you are doing that can lead to hell fire? Do you know that your own righteousness cannot saver you from hell? Repent today, ask God for mercy and begin to live a life that pleases Him. Be grateful to Him.
CONCLUSION: Ingratitude is a sin and we have seen from our study today that no sinner will inherit the Kingdom of God. The Bible records that no matter what God did for the children of Israel, they constantly grumbled and murmured; many of them died in the wilderness. How do you think that God would welcome an ungrateful person into His. Kingdom? Let us learn to be grateful always.
LESSON FIFTY (50)
TOPIC: ETERNITY IN HEAVEN
BIBLE TEXT: Luke 23:39-43
MEMORY VERSE: Luke 23:43 – “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
LESSON AIM: To let the teenagers know that there is eternity after this life.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Prepare for eternity! You must make it to heaven. Opening question: What does heaven mean to you?
INTRODUCTION: Eternity is a state of timelessness, forever and ever. Heaven is God’s dwelling place. Therefore, our topic for today is about spending eternity with God in heaven, being with Him forever and ever. Heaven is a place of peace and joy, where heavenly beings worship God day and night. We cannot comprehend the splendour and glory of heaven. It is indescribable. See how the streets are described in Rev 21:18-21.
STUDY GUIDE:
FEATURES OF ETERNAL HEAVEN:
* God Himself will be our God, Father, Landlord…everything – Rev 21: 3,7.
* There will be no death, no sorrow or pain, no mourning.
* Jesus will be our light – Rev 21:23.
* There will be no sin in heaven – Rev 21:27.
* There will be no hunger and thirst in heaven – Rev 7:16a.
WHAT SHALL WE SEE IN THIS ETERNAL HEAVEN?
* Our glorious Father.
* Our glorious mansion – John 14:2-3.
* The glorious city – Rev 21:10-11.
* Our glorious body – Phil 3:20-21.
* Our glorious Master Jesus – 1 Thess 4:17.

LIFE APPLICATION/INVITATION: Think about your eternal home and place your trust in Christ today before He returns (2 Cor 6:2). Tomorrow may be too late because “if anyone’s name is not found written in the book of life, they will be thrown into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:15).
CONCLUSION: Every believer must be looking forward to eternity with God. We must be careful not to allow anything to take our salvation away from us. The Bible says it profits us nothing if we gain the whole world, yet lose our soul and miss eternity with God in heaven (Mark 8:36). May this never be our portion, in Jesus’ Name. Be grateful to God always!
