HIGHER EVERYDAY

CLEAN HANDS
TEXT: PSALM 24:1-5
MEMORY VERSE: “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully” (PSALM 24:3, 4).
Cleanliness is the trademark of the godly. Filth stirs fear of pollution and diseases. No one would like to dine at the table with a dirty, unkempt person. Hygiene is encouraged and commended in personal, family and public life. Our text talks about the spiritually clean hands. The hand that does evil is unclean. The ungodly uses his hands for stealing, violent attacks, cheating, idolatry, immorality and many other evils. Actually, the hand is used figuratively (a synecdoche), to refer to what we do with our physical body, while the heart refers to the seat of our emotions and our inner private actions – our thoughts.
The Scripture admonishes, “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God” (Romans 6:13). What do you do with your body? Are they pure and godly? Can you gain access to God’s presence if you continue in your acts? Jesus is coming soon to take the saints to heaven. If you are not clean, repent now.

PRAYER: Lord, I present my body to You as a living sacrifice.
