TOPIC: THE WEAPONS OF OUR ENEMY (1)

Read Proverbs 7:5-27

[5]That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

[6]For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

[7]And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

[8]Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

[9]In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:

[10]And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

[11](She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

[12]Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

[13]So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,

[14]I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

[15]Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

[16]I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

[17]I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

[18]Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

[19]For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

[20]He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

[21]With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

[22]He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

[23]Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

[24]Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

[25]Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

[26]For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

[27]Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

MEMORISE: Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised (Proverbs 31:30)

EXPOSITION

A weapon is an object, or instrument that is designed to wage war, or fight battles. The devil specialises in using people against themselves. He can use a woman to pitch a man against God, and vice versa. Many secretaries are snares to their bosses. There are cases of midwives who were the evil that beset the ministries of some careless pastors. Mostly, he uses women to destroy some mighty men. Is that the design of God for this particular gender? Definitely no. Her first name was Eve, which means the mother of all living. She is an image of God taken from man. Someone calls woman womb man, i.e. a man carrying womb. She is a mother indeed. She is given the same status as men in God’s kingdom. She is a co-heir to the promise of God. In fact, there should be no discrimination between man and woman.

However, the first woman made the mistake of following the devil and led her husband along. The devil used the woman against her husband, the head of the family and the man irresistibly fell for it. This is very bad! Temptation is not a sin, but falling into it, is. Adam shouldn’t have fallen just like that. At least, he was clearly warned by God. What a shameful scenario!

So, there is nothing the devil cannot employ against you, but you don’t have to give in. You are inexcusable, if you cheaply fall for whatever Satan employs against you. Women should be wise and godly enough to suspect and tackle the devil whenever he subtly tries to use them against God’s agenda in any way. The devil specialises in using and dumping. Don’t be an instrument in his hand against anyone. It is better you are not born, or should be thrown into the ocean with millstone around your neck, rather than being used by the devil against anyone, male or female.

PRAYER POINTS

1. O Lord, never allow the enemy of my soul to prosper over me in Jesus’ name.

2. I refuse to be the devil’s workshop, in Jesus’ name.

3. Lord, make us to be wiser than the devil, even as we pray for our leaders not to fall as preys in his hands, in Jesus’ name.
