MEMORISE:

And He said, Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord. And behold, the Lord passed by,  (1 kings 19:11,12)

EXPOSITION

No one who will be great in life will ever joke with quite place or  secret place where he/she communicate freely with his/her Maker. Those who are and will be great in the Lord must have unhindered relationship with Him. Most times, God is readily available for us, but are we always ready for Him? It is high time we realise that God does not speak deep things to the multitudes, though He uses individuals among them. Let’s consider these fathers of faith:

ABRAHAM: but Abraham still stood before the Lord. And Abraham came close and said, Will You destroy the righteous (those upright and in right standing with God) together with the wicked?* (Gen. 18:22-23). Can you see that Abraham did not leave after the three men left for Sodom? He stayed, stood and drew near, wanting to hear more from the Lord. Hope you are not part of those who hurry to close during Church programmes?

MOSES: AMP:And Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush is not burned. (Exo. 3:3). We all need sensitivity to our environment and nature to hear from God. He decides the mood to use in reaching us, only that we must always be sensitivity and be alert. For Moses, it remained an unforgettable experience.

ELIJAH: …and after the fire a still small voice. It is not always that which is most visible tangible or noisy, that is most efficacious. Often times, God’s voice moves with power, but yet with a sweet and gentle gale. In order yo catch His attention, you must be gentle and cool. Do you want to hear God speaking to you? Get aside and apart from the hustle and bustle of the day.

Imagine these two appearances of God generally to the Israelites (Jdg.6:8) and specifically to Gideon when alone (Jdg. 6:11,12).
