THE WINNER TAKES THE TROPHY

Read:  Philippians 3:12-15

Philippans 3:12-14 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

MEMORISE:

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12).

EXPOSITION

A trophy is an object in the form of a statuette, cup or shield awarded for success in a competition, or to mark a special achievement. It is an emblem of success. In every competition, be it sport, academic, politics, there is usually and always a prize to be won by the participants. The reason for participation. An encouragement that makes adequate preparation and participation worthwhile.

Equally, the Kingdom race has a prize attached to it which only the winner takes the future glory in His presence (1 Cor.2:9,Isa.64:4).

To win the trophy, the competitors must focus on the finishing line rather than, looking back at what had happened to him before or during the race.

For anyone to win the high prize, he must be persistent and endure whatever happens to him in the course of the competition.

No man wins a trophy just like that. To the winner, many years of preparation, self denial and concentration on the set is inevitable.

Any Christian who will win the prize (His Kingdom) must be adequately prepared for the coming of the Lord. Deny himself of the pleasure of the world (friend to the world, enemy of God)and find time to know about the goal set set before him in personal study of the world to know what it entails to be a winner.

Although, it is the desire of God that all humanity should make heaven, it is quite sad that not everyone will enter the kingdom of God in heaven. Jesus said Matt.7v21-23 KJV:Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. May this never be your portion in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, help all Christian to focus on the finishing line of our race on earth and not on the ephemeral things.

2. Lord, I will not be found wanting in Your kingdom in Jesus name.

3.pray for those that are living their lives the way they like that God will touch them and give them the consciousness that they will one day give account of how they live their lives.
