ACCUSATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Read: 1 Samuel 12:1-5

1 Samuel 12:1-5  And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto me, and have made a king over you.

And now, behold, the king walketh before you: and I am old and grayheaded; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day.

Behold, here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.

And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand.

And he said unto them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.

MEMORISE:

My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O King, I have done no wrong before you (Daniel 6:22).

EXPOSITION

As a child of God, you need to live the life that is worthy of emulation. Your integrity matter most in all of your living. There is difference between the religious activities and our spiritual lives. Many believers today are more concerned about the religious rites of their denomination than their spiritual life. In anywhere you find yourself, let everything you do be plain. Do everything for the glory of God. Set a good standard in all areas of your endeavours. You must know that you will give account of everything you are doing. People are watching you and God is also watching you. In the text of today, Samuel was talking to the people of Israel with boldness that: “whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have l cheated? Who have l oppressed, or from whose hand have I received any bribe with which to blind my eyes? I will restore it to you” (1 Sam. 12:3).

If he had lived a reckless life, he would not have addressed his people like this. Many believer today don’t have a good reputation in their places of work. Many are even collecting bribe in the church before they allow innocent worshippers to see the pastor or prophet. The belevers don’t mind to collect bribe in order to allow a person to do or be in certain place. If nobody sees you, God sees you. Look at what Daniel told the king in Dan. 6:22, that the mouths of the lions have been shut by the angel of God, because he was found innocent before God and King. Now with the way you live your life, are you innocent? The acocusation will come but let your accountability be stronger than the accusation like that of Daniel. If Daniel was found guilty of the accusation, he would have been consumed by the lion. Mind the way you live your life as a Christian. As you go out today, exhibit the life of Christ always.

PRAYER POINTS

1. God, help me to be a good representative of You wherever I find myself.

2. God, teach me to be conscious of my living in this life.

3. Pray for those Christians who practice politics for grace to be good representatives of the kingdom of God.
