SALVATION FOR ALL

Date: Wednesday, May 18, 2022

Bible Text: Acts 2:14-21

Memory Verse: “And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be save.” Acts 2:21, NIV

One Pastor told this story: “I was caught in the Kaduna riots in 2000. When the Muslim soldiers yelled for me to stop, I hit the ground. The soldiers said, ‘who are you?’ I said, ‘Pastor’ the soldiers, arrested and put me in jail, and after many months they let me go.” The Pastor then said, “What kept me going in jail was the chance I had to preach to Muslims in the prison. All are included in God’s salvation plan.”

Apostle Peter directly addresses the entire crowd in Aramaic, answers the critics, then turns his attention to the gospel message for the Aramaic speakers present. Peter now makes it clear that salvation is for all who call on the name of the LORD (vs. 21). What does this mean in Hebrew context? The name is the essence of the person, and to use a name is to appeal to the person. Peter’s statement expresses the finality and certainty of salvation and judgment.

How faithful are you in the proclamation of the gospel? Have you stood like Peter to proclaim salvation for all? What steps are you taking to ensure that the gospel meets the ends of the earth? Do not keep silent.

Insight: Making every situation a gospel opportunity is urgent.

Prayer: LORD, give me the grace to make every context a place of ministry.
